Chicago and North Western and Union Pacific already had depots constructed in Wahoo when this depot was built in 1886 by the Omaha and North Platte Railroad Company. Months later, when the Chicago, Burlington and Quincy Railroad completed their line through Wahoo for the Ashland to Schuyler Branch, the Omaha and North Platte Railroad Company leased it to the CBQ. The CBQ evenually held the deed in 1908. [1]

The depot's floor plan is a variation of the "combination" design with separate waiting rooms for men and women. The second level was used for agent's living quarters. [1]
