Saint Paul and Duluth Railroad

Incorporated in 1863, the Lake Superior and Mississippi Railroad established the first rail connection between Duluth and St. Paul in 1870[1]. During the panic of 1873, the company defaulted on its bonds and was reorganized in 1877 as the Saint Paul and Duluth Railroad. In 1900 it was acquired by the Northern Pacific in 1900.

The St. Paul and Duluth Railroad had a single main route with multiple branches. The main route from St. Paul to Duluth is known as the Skally Line.
